About
This is my personal website; I am just an electronics engineer who likes to take pictures. So the site is a combination of amateur photography liberally littered with geeky stuff.
My home is in Seoul, South Korea. So the things I see, hear and use are from East Asia but photographed and written about from a British perspective. In my opinion Seoul, or for that matter Korea, is not a pretty place. When you get off the main thoroughfares Seoul is a scruffy and haphazard place comprising of hastily built mono-block concrete structures, designed by people who forgot that buildings should be visually interesting, that air condition is not a bolt-on and that Disney style castles are best left on wedding cakes. The suburbs all look the same and have been laid out by planners who shouldn’t be trusted with a calendar. The countryside and scenery doesn’t have a wow factor, parts of it are OK; the mountains and the rural rivers, but for me the best part of Korea is the people. They are so damn interesting and great to photograph. Forget the western stereotype of the inscrutable oriental, yeah there is a bit of that but scratch beneath the surface and you will find people that have masses amount of energy and a very high emotional IQ.
